It has become a standard part of an evaluation, and a standard place for buyers to be misled, because a logo grid answers the question of whether an integration exists and says nothing about whether it does what you need. Depth is what varies, and it varies enormously behind identical-looking tiles. A listing might mean a full bidirectional sync with field-level mapping and conflict handling; it might mean a one-way push of a single object type on a schedule; it might mean an outbound webhook you have to build the other half of; and it might mean a community-contributed template on a third-party automation platform that the vendor neither wrote nor supports. All four appear in marketplaces under the same word. The questions that separate them: which objects and fields sync, in which direction, on what trigger and at what frequency; who built and who maintains the connector, and what happens when the other vendor's API changes; whether it is included in your plan or a paid add-on, since integrations are a common upsell gate; and whether historical data is backfilled on connection or only changes from that point forward. Ask for a working demo against a sandbox with your own field names in it — a fifteen-minute test against real data reveals depth that a documentation page will not. It is also worth checking whether the vendor exposes a documented public API at all.
