The same three words can mean tell me what this is, show me how to do it, help me compare my options, or take me to a specific product, and a page that answers the wrong one loses the traffic no matter how well it is written. The usual grouping is informational, navigational, commercial and transactional, but the categories matter less than the observation underneath them: intent is inferred from the results a search engine already rewards, not decided by the publisher. The practical method is to read the current results page before writing anything. If the first page is dominated by tutorials, the query is a how-to and a product page will not rank for it. If it is dominated by comparison lists, a single-product page is competing in the wrong format. If it is dominated by the vendors themselves, the query is navigational and the opportunity is small. This is also where format gets decided: length, whether a table belongs on the page, whether the answer should sit in the first paragraph. Those are intent-match signals rather than stylistic preferences. Two consequences are easy to miss. Intent drifts, because a query that was informational becomes commercial once a market matures and buyers appear, which is why a page can decay after two good years without any competitor doing anything to it. And one page cannot serve two intents well; the attempt produces a page that half-answers both, and it is a common way one page ends up competing with another on the same site.","Search intent is what a query is really asking: how to read it off the current results page, why it drifts over time, and why one page cannot serve two.",null,[11,14,17,20],{"slug":12,"name":13},"conversion-rate-optimization","Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)",{"slug":15,"name":16},"keyword-cannibalization","Keyword Cannibalization",{"slug":18,"name":19},"programmatic-seo","Programmatic SEO",{"slug":21,"name":22},"topical-authority","Topical Authority",[24,28,31,34,37,38,41,44,45,48,51,54],{"slug":25,"category":5,"name":26,"updated_at":27},"attribution-model","Attribution Model","2026-08-24T02:46:38+00:00",{"slug":29,"category":5,"name":30,"updated_at":27},"channel-market-fit","Channel-Market Fit",{"slug":32,"category":5,"name":33,"updated_at":27},"content-brief","Content Brief",{"slug":35,"category":5,"name":36,"updated_at":27},"content-optimization","Content Optimization",{"slug":12,"category":5,"name":13,"updated_at":27},{"slug":39,"category":5,"name":40,"updated_at":27},"growth-loop","Growth Loop",{"slug":42,"category":5,"name":43,"updated_at":27},"jobs-to-be-done","Jobs to Be Done (JTBD)",{"slug":15,"category":5,"name":16,"updated_at":27},{"slug":46,"category":5,"name":47,"updated_at":27},"lead-scoring","Lead Scoring",{"slug":49,"category":5,"name":50,"updated_at":27},"lifecycle-email","Lifecycle Email",{"slug":52,"category":5,"name":53,"updated_at":27},"marketing-qualified-lead","Marketing-Qualified Lead (MQL)",{"slug":55,"category":5,"name":56,"updated_at":27},"network-effects","Network Effects",{"pairs":58,"alternatives":66},[59,60,61,62,63,64,65],"airtable-vs-notion","bubble-vs-webflow","copy-ai-vs-jasper","framer-vs-webflow","frase-vs-surfer-seo","make-vs-zapier","jasper-vs-writesonic",[67,68,69,70,71,72],"copy-ai","jasper","webflow","bubble","zapier","airtable"]
