- Is Framer's CMS good enough for a blog?
- For a blog that publishes occasionally and needs no complex relationships between entries, yes. Framer's paid tiers include a CMS and it handles straightforward collections well. The gap appears as a content operation grows: reference fields, larger item counts, editors who need guardrails, and integrations that push content in and out. Framer's own limitations name a deep content CMS as a reason to choose something else, which is the clearest possible signal about where the ceiling sits.
- Which is cheaper over a year?
- Framer's entry tier is lower than Webflow's in our data, and the gap widens once Webflow's CMS tier and hosting are in the picture, which Webflow's own limitations acknowledge. But a cheap plan for the wrong tool is not a saving. Price the version of each that actually covers your pages, your CMS items and your editors, then compare those numbers rather than the entry ones. Vendor pricing moves, so confirm before you commit.
- Can I move a site from Framer to Webflow?
- Not automatically. There is no migration path between them, so a move means rebuilding the design and re-entering the content. That is a real cost, and it is the argument for choosing Webflow up front when you already know the site is content-driven. If you genuinely do not know yet, the cheaper mistake is to launch fast on Framer and rebuild once, rather than to spend two months on a site nobody has validated.
- Do I need to know code for either of them?
- No for Framer, and effectively no for Webflow, but Webflow expects you to understand how a web page is actually structured. We classify it as low-code because the box model, classes and inheritance are all visible in the interface, and that is precisely what gives you pixel-level control. Designers who already think in those terms find it liberating. Everyone else finds it steep, and that is the honest trade.
- Which one is better for a landing page?
- Framer, for a single page that has to look distinctive and ship immediately. Landing pages are the case where Framer's advantages are all live and its limitations are all irrelevant: there is no CMS to outgrow, no editor handover, and motion is doing real persuasive work. If the landing page is one of thirty that a growth team will spin up and template, the CMS argument returns and Webflow moves back to the front.
- What about Carrd, if the site is genuinely tiny?
- Worth a look before you pay for either of these. Carrd is built for responsive one-page sites and prices accordingly, and for a link page, a personal profile or a single pre-launch page it does the job with less to learn than Framer and far less than Webflow. Its own limitations are exactly what you would expect: one page, and no real CMS. The moment you need a second page that is not a duplicate, you are back in this comparison rather than out of it.
