Questions

Does HeyGen have a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan allows three videos a month, each up to one minute and watermarked. It includes Avatar IV and Video Agent, one custom video avatar, 500+ stock presenters, one voice clone, 30+ languages and a single user licence.

Which HeyGen plan removes the watermark?

Creator and every plan above it. Creator exports up to 1080p and videos up to 30 minutes, while Pro and Business export up to 4K. Business raises the maximum video length to 60 minutes.

How do HeyGen credits work?

Creator includes 600 credits a month, Pro 1,000 and Business 1,500, and Pro has larger credit tiers listed up to 100,000 credits at $4,300. Monthly subscribers' unused credits roll over for one month, while annual subscribers' credits accumulate until renewal. Annual billing is shown as '2 months free', but only Creator has a stated annual rate ($24/month effective).

Do I need consent to make an avatar of a real person?

For digital twin avatars, yes. The person must record a short consent statement on camera through HeyGen's hosted page, and uploading a pre-recorded consent video is restricted to enterprise accounts. Photo avatars have no consent check, so keeping the subject's agreement on record is your responsibility. For voice clones HeyGen says it verifies you own the voice and requires written consent for any third-party voice.

Does HeyGen have an API?

Yes, there is a developer platform at developers.heygen.com, but API pricing is separate from the subscription plans. The pricing page does not state which plans include API access, so confirm API credits and limits on the developer pricing screen before building on it.

What does a team get on HeyGen Business?

Business costs $149 a month plus $20 for each extra seat. It adds a shared workspace, centralised billing, SAML/SSO, a brand kit, SCORM export and integrations with n8n, Make, HubSpot and Zapier, plus 5+ custom avatars. Enterprise adds SCIM provisioning, MFA and a dedicated customer success manager.
