Is HubSpot CRM right for you?

Good for

  • Small teams moving from spreadsheets to a shared contact and deal pipeline
  • Teams that want CRM, email campaigns, live chat and a meeting scheduler under one login
  • Growing sales organisations that need forecasting, quotes and sequences
  • Companies that expect to add marketing or service tools later and want one contact record

Skip it if

  • You need more than 2 users on the Free plan, since extra seats require a paid plan
  • You want a flat, fully published price for Professional or Enterprise including onboarding, because the onboarding amount is not shown on the pricing page
  • You only need a lightweight sales pipeline and do not plan to use marketing or service tools, where a pipeline-focused CRM may cost less per seat

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Free plan with no time limit for up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, including contact, company and deal management and a deals pipeline
  • Sales, marketing and service tools share one contact database, so a team can add hubs without migrating data
  • Starter plans do not require paid onboarding and include email and in-app chat support
  • More than 2,000 apps in the HubSpot Marketplace, with a published API and documented rate limits per tier

Cons

  • Professional and Enterprise plans are required to buy onboarding, which is an extra cost on top of the seat price
  • The jump from Starter to Professional is large: $90 per seat per month billed annually, against $7 to $15 for Starter
  • The Starter price shown is a limited-time offer for new customers, so the long-term rate is higher than the headline figure
  • Custom reports, advanced automation, custom objects and duplicate management are only available from Professional upward

Questions

Does HubSpot CRM have a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan costs $0, needs no credit card and has no time limit. HubSpot's CRM page states it covers up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, with no limit on customer data, and the pricing page lists contacts, companies, deals, activity tracking, two-way sync with dozens of apps and ticket routing. A third user requires a paid plan.

How much does HubSpot Starter really cost?

The pricing page shows Starter at $7 per seat per month on annual billing, marked as a limited-time 65% discount, and at $10 per seat per month on monthly billing with a 50% discount. HubSpot's CRM page says the Starter discount applies only to new customers and lists Starter from $15. Budget for the undiscounted rate when you plan beyond the first term. Starter allows up to 10 paid users.

What changes between Starter and Professional?

Professional adds advanced automation, custom reports, forecasting, AI-powered quotes, tiered product pricing, custom objects, duplicate merging, customer journey analytics and phone support, among other features on the plan comparison. It costs $90 per seat per month on annual billing, or $100 monthly, and includes 10,000 HubSpot Credits per month against 5,000 on Starter.

Is onboarding mandatory?

For Professional and Enterprise, yes: HubSpot's pricing FAQ says these plans are required to purchase onboarding. Starter plans are not. The pricing page does not state the onboarding amount, so ask HubSpot for the figure before you budget a Professional or Enterprise rollout.

How many users can I have?

Free allows up to 2 users and Starter up to 10 paid users. Professional and Enterprise can add more than 10 paid users, and additional seats are priced per seat by plan, at $90 on Professional billed annually and $175 on Enterprise.

Does HubSpot have an API, and are there limits?

Yes. HubSpot's developer documentation lists private-app limits per tier: Free and Starter 100 requests per 10 seconds per app and 250,000 per day per account, Professional 190 per 10 seconds and 625,000 per day, and Enterprise 190 per 10 seconds and 1,000,000 per day. An API Limit Increase can be bought up to twice, adding 1,000,000 daily requests each. Search, Associations and GraphQL APIs have stricter limits.

What are HubSpot Credits?

Credits power HubSpot's AI agents and some features, and are used when a feature takes action. Paid plans include a monthly allowance (5,000 on Starter, 10,000 on Professional, 15,000 on Enterprise) that resets monthly and does not roll over. You can buy credit packs or pay as you go.
